“Let Freedom Ring: Liberty Bell” Finds a Home at the Alabama State Capitol

I am deeply honored to share that my original watercolor painting, Let Freedom Ring: Liberty Bell, has found a home at the Alabama State Capitol, where it is proudly displayed over the mantel in the office of Alabama State Treasurer Young Boozer.

The inspiration for this painting reaches back 50 years. In 1976, during America’s Bicentennial, I had the opportunity as a Boy Scout to attend the Bicentennial Camporee. Photographs I took of the Liberty Bell during that memorable experience became the inspiration for this painting decades later.

As our nation celebrates its 250th anniversary, I wanted to contribute in my own way by returning to this enduring symbol of American liberty and creating a work that honors its history and meaning.

The painting’s new home makes the story even more meaningful. Mr. Boozer and his family have a longstanding connection to Alabama’s Liberty Bell, located on the east side of the State Capitol, dating back to the 1950s. That tradition continues today, with his grandson participating in the Bell Ringing Ceremony this past July 8. More on Boozer Family and Bell

To see Let Freedom Ring displayed in such a historic and prestigious setting is something I will always treasure. As an artist, I am extremely honored and humbled whenever my work is appreciated, but having this particular painting displayed at the Alabama State Capitol—especially during America’s 250th anniversary—makes the moment truly special.

May the bell continue to ring and may the ideals of liberty it represents endure for generations to come.
